We wrote last week about ICON Aircraft’s plans to be at Sun ’n Fun next week, and this week the company announced big plans for its AirVenture presence.

On Thursday, July 28, at the Gathering of Eagles, the EAA’s annual fundraiser for its Young Eagle program, the organization will auction off an ICON A5, provided by ICON Aircraft, as the grand finale of what’s sure to be one of the most spirited events in recent Young Eagles history.

Bidding on the new amphibious light-sport aircraft will take place live at the auction, in addition to, for the first time this year, bids via telephone. The auction lineup is always an exciting one, and in the past, has included a wide variety of remarkable items and experiences, including one-of-a-kind Ford Mustangs and flying excursions with famous aviation personalities.

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, the 64th annual Experimental Aircraft Association fly-in convention, will be held July 25-31 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh. Visit eaa.org/airventure for more details.
