AOPA’s regional fly-in—and airshow?—is set to kick off on September 30 at Prescott Municipal Airport (KPRC) in Arizona. Prescott is home to Embry-Riddle’s western campus and smack-dab in the middle of some of the most beautiful high-desert terrain in the country. The fun begins Friday night, with a music-filled Barnstormers Party hosted by Jeppesen. On Saturday, pilots can explore all the exhibits, displays and demos running throughout the whole day.
The exhibits open at 9:00 a.m., followed by a variety of seminars and safety briefings, an aviation product showcase, and more. In the afternoon, pilots can attend a town hall meeting with AOPA President Mark Baker, followed by an ice cream social.
Among the highlights is the Rusty Pilots Seminar and Breakfast, where pilots can get free ground instruction toward completing a flight review.While AOPA’s regional gathering is at little risk of turning into a traveling AirVenture, there will be an airshow associated with the event.Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Prescott Campus will present an aerial demo as part of its OctoberWest homecoming festivities featuring ERAU alumnus Melissa Andrzejewski, whose act will include a wingsuit jumper and a multi-ship demo, with the awesome Bill Stein’s thrilling airshow routine and Skip Stewart—equally awesome, by the way—in his modified Pitts S-2S biplane.
