Gregoire Hands Reins Over To New Leadership At Redbird

The company co-founder and self-described ’€œchief pilot’€ has announced succession plans for the innovative flight sim maker.

Redbird Flight Simulations co-founder and self-proclaimed “chief pilot” Jerry Gregoire announced that on January 21st he will be stepping away from the day-to-day operations at the company he helped create. Gregoire’s longtime business partner Todd Willinger will assume leadership as CEO, with Charlie Gregoire moving into the role of COO. Upon his stepping down, Jerry Gregoire will work with Craig Fuller as co-chairs of the Redbird board of directors.

Gregoire launched this year’s Redbird Imagine Flight Migration in San Marcos, Texas, on Monday morning. The three-day gathering attracted some of the leading thinkers in aviation training. Plane & Pilot Editor-in-Chief Isabel Goyer was featured in a panel discussion with other aviation magazine editors in discussing the shape of the aviation industry before a general session of the gathering. Goyer said that he is optimistic about the prospects for GA, mentioning specifically his belief that new technologies will at some point in the not-too-distant future make flying safer, cheaper and more available, leading to a hung influx of new pilots. Goyer stressed that these developments would not eliminate the need for forward-thinking flight training.

Gregoire also announced that the event has outgrown the SkyPort facilities and that next year’s edition will take place at the EAA Air Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, October 16-18. The museum facilities, Gregoire said, will allow Migration to draw more flight-training enthusiasts than ever.
