If you’re looking to buy a new airplane, you’ve likely been confronted with a seemingly endless list of options ranging from cosmetics to avionics and beyond. Each choice can effect weight, and will certainly have an impact on the price of your new bird. It’s a lot to balance, but Cessna has a new tool to make it easier—if you’re after a TTx, at least.
Cessna’s new TTX online configurator is a virtual aircraft generator. Users can click their way through available options, selecting the ones they like and building their plane as they go. It starts with a base price of $715,000 and a 2,534-pound standard empty weight. From there, each choice is presented with associated changes in those numbers. The final weight and cost are updated automatically as selections are made. Options include exterior and interior design, additional avionics, and extras like a training package or air conditioning. When finished, either a summary of the plane you built or, if you’re ready to take the plunge, an electronic purchase agreement can be emailed on request.
The TTx is a fixed-gear, low-wing, composite aircraft with a top advertised cruising speed of 235 knots. It comes outfitted with Garmin G2000 glass.
