In 1994, Stoddard-Hamilton decided to take the airframe of its Glasair III and strap on 450 slip of an Allison 250 turbine. The combination gave the ship exceptional performance with regards to straight-andlevel flight speeds and rate of climb. Speeds in excess of 340 mph have been recorded and the climb to ceiling can be accomplished in under eight minutes.
