Plane & Pilot Launches Redesigned Magazine At Sun “€˜n Fun

Overhauled brand features clean, modern design, great writing and photography, and a whole new attitude

At the event, Fitzgerald commented, “The redesign of Plane & Pilot, along with the new and brilliant editorial, sets the stage for the brand as we move forward with renewed energy and focus.”

Said Goyer, “When I accepted the position at Plane & Pilot, my goal was to transform the title into a top-tier aviation publication that proudly stood side by side with the best in the business and to make Plane & Pilot nothing less than the highest-quality newsstand aviation magazine in the world. With the May issue, I can confidently say that our team has achieved that goal.”

Plane & Pilot Launches Redesigned Magazine

At Sun ’n Fun on Wednesday, Plane & Pilot editor-in-chief and Madavor COO Susan Fitzgerald officially launched the redesigned issue of the new Plane & Pilot. Madavor purchased the title from Werner Publishing last summer, and Isabel Goyer took the helm in October.

In addition to Goyer, the new Plane & Pilot features a long list of new, award-winning writers, all of whom are passionate aviators. Senior editors Bill Cox and James Wynbrandt, contributing editors aerobatics star Patty Wagstaff and accident investigation expert Peter Katz, best-selling author and 747 pilot Mark Vanhoenacker, pro pilots Erika Armstrong and Lou Churchville, tech editor Grant Opperman, award-winning author W. Scott Olsen, training experts Roger Sharp, Eric Radtke and Jason Blair, and illustrator Gabriel Campanario are just some of the talents Goyer has assembled for the new brand.

“The last five months of preparation for re-creating this title have been a whirlwind of joyous insanity,” Goyer added. “The secret behind the new Plane & Pilot is no secret at all. It’s all about working with a group of incredibly talented people who believe as I do that flying is the greatest activity in (or slightly above) the world. When I shared my plan to go forward with this experiment with these writers and artists and dreamers, to a one, they said the same thing: ’When do we get started?’ The answer I can proudly say is, ’today.'”
