Here are a few tips on scheduled events at Oshkosh 2016 that are worth the wait.
Mass Arrivals!
Each year, hundreds of aviators and aircraft from around the world make their way to AirVenture, creating their own communities along the flightline. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind experience. Participation is open only to members of the authorized groups, that is, no party crashers! Here’s the schedule for mass arrivals:
Saturday, 7/23, 11 a.m. — Cherokees
Saturday, 7/23, 1 p.m. — Bonanzas
Saturday, 7/23, 2:30 p.m. — Cessnas
Sunday, 7/24, 11 a.m. — Mooneys
EAA Four Corners.
The intersection of Knapp Street and Celebration Way is the epicenter of EAA information about membership, AirVenture and pathways to aviation. There’s a revamped layout this year, including the location of the Proficiency Center (see below) right there. Four Corners should be your first stop in planning your AirVenture visit.

Dedicated to improving pilot skills and enhancing safety, the EAA Pilot Proficiency Center is the place to check out daily Tech Talks, learn how to participate with EAA IMC chapters and experience flight in one of 12 Redbird LD flight simulators. This year, the Center is located at EAA Four Corners.
Martin Mars Aircraft At The Seaplane Base.
When: Monday, 7/25, Wednesday, 7/27, Friday, 7/29, Saturday, 7/30 (evening)
The world’s largest flying boat, the gigantic Martin Mars aircraft makes its first visit to Oshkosh. During AirVenture, the airplane will be parked near the EAA Seaplane Base on Lake Winnebago. It will fly several demonstrations throughout the week. You also can visit the Seaplane Base for a nice change of pace. Nestled deep in a pretty cove on the lake, it’s technically part of the airshow, but it’s also a trip back in time. Side note: The Seaplane Base is the location of The Watermelon Social on Saturday night.
