The last known remaining 1935 Lockheed Electra L-10E is being transported from El Cajon, California, to Atchison, Kansas. Named “Muriel,” the restored aircraft was acquired by the Atchison Amelia Earhart Foundation with plans to house it at a new Amelia Earhart Museum. The plane will be on permanent display at the museum, which is also the location of Earhart’s childhood home and the annual Amelia Earhart Festival.

Aviator Grace McGuire has owned, maintained and restored “Muriel” for 34 years. The Lockheed Electra will travel from California to its new home in Kansas.
“We’re thrilled to carry on the amazing Earhart legacy through this aircraft,” said Karen Seaberg, Director of the Atchison Amelia Earhart Foundation. “At a time when it could have been discarded, it was instead impeccably cared for and restored, and will now live on to educate future generations.”
