On Monday afternoon, a Learjet 35 crashed on final approach to Teterboro Airport. Both crew members—the only occupants of the plane—were killed. Their names have not yet been released. According to FAA records, the plane is owned by A&C Big Sky Aviation of Billings, Montana.
The jet was traveling to Teterboro from Philadelphia International Airport. It hit three buildings a quarter-mile from the end of Runway 1 and came to rest in a parking lot. A post-crash fire destroyed the airplane, more than a dozencars, and damaged two of the buildings. No one on the ground was hurt.
There was no indication on the ATC audio of what might have caused the crash. No emergency was declared and communications were normal. The NTSB was on site on Tuesday and the cockpit voice recorder has been recovered.
