Genesys Announces S-TEC 3100 Autopilot Winner

To go along with its Oshkosh announcement of two new digital flight control systems—the S-TEC 5000 and the S-TEC 3100—Genesys Aerosystems also invited owners of 3100-compatible aircraft to enter a drawing to win a new S-TEC 3100 autopilot. Needless to say, there were plenty of pilots lining up to participate. Genesys gathered 394 qualified entries.

Yesterday, Genesys drew a name and announced the lucky winner. Beech Bonanza owner Jerry Clemens will be getting an S-TEC 3100 DFCS for his plane.

The S-TEC 3100 was designed for piston singles and twins. It can integrate with both analog instruments and digital sources from Garmin, Aspen and other EFIS displays. The S-TEC 3100 is a 2-axis (3-axis for some models) autopilot that includes additional features like a straight and level recovery button and stall/over-speed protection function. Genesys has also announced a program that will provide a path for current S-TEC owners to upgrade to the 3100.

The S-TEC 5000 is for high-performance jets and turboprops. It was designed to work with Genesys’ 3D Synthetic Vision EFIS and other EFIS systems with Area Navigation. It is RVSM and GPS-navigation capable. Like the S-TEC 3100, it also provides one-touch straight and level recovery and envelope protection and alerting.
