Gemini Sparkle

Key Takeaways:

  • Continental Motors Group has significantly raised the Time Between Replacement (TBR) for its CD-100-series diesel engines (CD-135 and CD-155) to 2,100 hours.
  • This update applies to engines manufactured since December 1, 2015, and is a result of recent design improvements.
  • The increased TBR, up from 1,200 hours for the CD-155 and 1,500 hours for the CD-135, aims to substantially lower operational costs.
  • Additionally, the gearbox and timing chain are expected to receive a 1,200-hour rating once EASA issues final approval.

Continental Motors Group has raised the TBR (time between replacement) of its diesel CD-100-series engines to 2,100 hours, significantly lowering operational costs. The lifetime increase affects all CD-135 and CD-155 engines manufactured since December 1, 2015.

Several design improvements engineered over the last two years have made the improvements possible. Both the CD-135 and CD-155 are now rated to a TBR of 2,100 hours—the CD-155 increases from 1,200 hours, and the CD-135 increases from 1,500 hours. Additionally, the gearbox and timing chain will be rated for 1,200 hours once EASA issues final paperwork.
