You’ve left your home airport, and find yourself and the family hundreds of miles away with unexpected engine trouble on a Sunday night. The Breakdown Assistance Program from Sporty’s is a new resource for pilots who need mechanical help, with just a single phone call.

In cooperation with Mike Busch’s Savvy Aircraft Maintenance Management, Sporty’s Breakdown Assistance Program is a 24/7 partner for aircraft owners. Call the toll-free hotline, and gain immediate access to Savvy’s team of knowledgeable A&P/IA mechanics, who respond anytime, day or night, typically within 15 minutes.

The mechanics will assist you in troubleshooting the problem and help you determine whether the aircraft is safe to fly home. If it isn’t, you’ll be referred to a qualified shop or mechanic located nearby, using Savvy’s extensive database of maintenance resources and Savvy’s experience with which ones are the best to work with.

If your plane needs to go into the shop, Savvy’s mechanic will help you determine the extent of the repairs required to get you home safely and will obtain cost estimates from the shop, as well as provide oversight of their service until the work is complete. Savvy’s mechanic will review the maintenance records and the invoice on your behalf to make sure they’re accurate and fair, and that there are no surprises.

The program is intended for owner-flown aircraft, and doesn’t cover routine preventive maintenance or mechanical problems that occur within 50 statute miles of the airplane’s home base. Be sure to check eligibility and other restrictions.

Sporty’s Breakdown Assistance Program is available now, and coverage becomes effective 48 hours after your order is placed: $149/one year (single-engine piston aircraft); $199/one year (multi-engine piston aircraft); $249/one year (single-engine turbine aircraft).
