The long wing Zodiac originated in 1984 as an all metal two-seater. The design evolved to the 601XL with an enlarged cockpit and baggage area. The CH 640 is larger, conventional four-seater, with a 2+2 seating configuration derived from the CH 2000 production aircraft. The four-seater has a 180-hp Lycoming O-360 engine, fixed tricycle landing gear, large dual gull-wing doors, a wing span of 31.5 feet and an overall length of 23 feet.
