Three corporate jets at the Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles sustained thousands of dollars worth of damage when taggers graffitied the fuselages, wheel flaps and tails of the parked planes. Investigators say the vandals accessed the jets, which were parked towards the end of the runway, by cutting through a perimeter fence late Sunday night or early Monday morning.
It is suspected that the graffiti left behind on each of the planes are the handles or monikers of the taggers. Tagging culture is prominent in the area of the San Fernando Valley where the airport is located, and this is the second time in the past two years that aircraft have been vandalized at the Los Angeles area airfield. Airport police are working with graffiti experts at the Los Angeles Police Department to apprehend the vandals, as well as discussing strategies to prevent this from happening in the future.
