As you'll read elsewhere, the arrivals leading up to Oshkosh AirVenture 2021 exceeded all expectations, and to be honest, expectations were plenty high to begin with. There was a little bit of excitement, but nothing more than bent metal, and there was a lot of noise of the military jet variety. After the longest wait between AirVentures ever, every decibel was like a symphony.

The names of supporters of teenager Ben Templeton printed on the fuselage of the Piper J-3 he flew to all 50 United States. Ben graduated in June and went directly from there to the airport, after which he departed for what would be a 48-State, 8,300-mile odyssey. Ben added a few hours to his logbook in the process to be sure.

The military folks got to OSH early and had to help the proceedings get under way through an application of noise and flame. This F-15 was among the loudest and certainly the prettiest. The jet is here to mark 30 years since Desert Storm.
