The CUBy is a replica of the ever-popular Piper J-3 Cub. It was designed by Dick Wagner, president of Wag-Aero, the nation's biggest homebuilder's supply house in Lyons, Wisconsin. Wagner was well aware of the demand for a kit version of the venerable puddle jumper whose name has become a household word. Power is supplied by an 85-hp Continental. There is very little difference between the CUBy and the original J-3, except for a crank-operated elevator trim tab instead of the jackscrew adjustment that moved the stabilizer plane.
