The Piper Pocono PA-35 was designed to serve as a high-capacity commuter airline, an unusually spacious executive aircraft, or a versatile cargo carrier. Its airframe incorporates a large circular hull measuring 88 inches in diameter. This large capacity hull makes it possible to install a variety of seating configurations or handle bulky cargo loads. Passenger accommodations include seating for 17 plus pilot or 14 with toilet facilities. With a gross weight of 9,000 pounds, the Pocono has a useful load of 4,100 to 4,300 pounds. Its turbocharged 470-hp engines allow it to operate at cruising speeds in the 200- to 230-mph range, depending upon altitude. The Pocono is easily identified by a fuselage shape that retains a large diameter for a substantial distance aft of the wing trailing edge. There is minimal fuselage taper toward the tail.
