The P2006T Tecnam Twin, which made its U.S. debut at 2009 EAA AirVenture, has received FAA certification. The aircraft earned its certification for VFR and analog IFR operations, and also was approved for glass-panel IFR certification in Europe (this is expected to be completed in the United States over the next few months). New From Aspen
Aspen has announced four new products: The EFD1000C3 Pro PFD and the EA100 Autopilot Attitude Interface will be available this summer. The Engine Monitoring upgrade for Aspen MFDs, which displays critical engine data, and the Evolution Backup Display, which is designed to replace legacy mechanical backup instruments, will ship by the end of 2010.
Aspen also has rolled out new packages comprised of combinations of Evolution Flight Displays. The Evolution 1500 package combines the Evolution 1000 Pro PFD with the Evolution 500 MFD; the Evolution 2000 combines the 1000 Pro PFD and 1000 MFD; and the Evolution 2500 combines the 1000 Pro PFD, 1000 MFD and 500 MFD.
Aspen also will add Evolution Synthetic Vision to its Evolution 1000 Pro PFD in Q1 2011. The feature will be available as a software upgrade to Evolution Flight Displays in the field and as an option for new Evolution PFDs. Price is expected to be $2,995. Visit www.aspenavionics.com.

Avidyne In The Extra EA-500
Avidyne and Extra Aircraft have unveiled the Entegra Release 9 Integrated Flight Deck for the Extra EA-500. "We chose Avidyne for their innovation, overall ease of use and truly redundant system architecture," commented Walter Extra, founder of Extra Aircraft. The first customer delivery of the EA-500 took place at Aero Friedrichshafen.
Additionally, Avidyne has added an innovative feature, FMS Preview, to Entegra Release 9. It allows pilots to see a graphical presentation on the split-screen map as they scroll through the list of available departures, airways, transitions and approach procedures. Jeppesen IFR Training
Jeppesen's Instrument Pilot Online training course includes the required minimum of 30 hours of ground-school topics and offers integrated and scenario-based flight lessons that stress single-pilot resource management topics and effective decision-making. Three versions are available: The Part 61 Enhanced Ground School, Maneuvers and Test Preparation course is available directly to students. The Stage Exams and Flight Lessons version is targeted to flight schools and universities, and includes all ground, maneuvers and flight lessons to meet FAR Part 61 requirements. Personal Flight Sims
King Schools and Redbird Flight Simulations now offer a home aviation simulator, the Redbird TD. "The TD desk-mount places the yoke and controls under the table, achieving the feel of a real cockpit while you practice instrument procedures to any airport in the world, or maybe prefly that upcoming cross-country," said King Schools Cochairman John King. The Redbird TD can be ordered with a glass or analog instrument panel, and is FAA-approved as a Basic Aviation Training Device.
