How A Holiday Airlift Is Reaching Out

This year, Santa is flying a PC-12, at least for deliveries in Colorado.

The Colorado Aviation Business Association has partnered with the Veterans of Foreign Wars to airlift more than 23,000 pounds of donated goods to rural communities across the state over the past five years. This year, they did it again, delivering a monumental 10,000 pounds of food and toys in their 6th Charity Airlift. Goods were collected via donation boxes at airports and local businesses and at aviation events throughout the year. All donations will go to veterans and their families.

CABA and the VFW transported the food and toys to Centennial Airport on December 11 where they were met by ten business and private aircraft donated for the occasion. The Precision Flight Team of Metropolitan State University of Denver and AeroColorado, with a Pilatus PC-12, were among those who lent their time and airplanes to the event. Airlift destinations included Burlington, Las Animas, Pueblo, Alamosa, and Montrose. Upon arrival at their various destinations, the aircraft were unloaded by teams of VFW personnel. Those teams will be responsible for distributing the goods to the veterans who need them.
