Sport Aircraft Works
Flight schools that add the S-LSA SportCruiser aircraft to their training fleets are eligible to participate in Sport Aircraft Works' new Sport Aircraft Pilot Center Program. According to Sport Aircraft Director of Sales & Marketing Bob Anderson, a flight school can earn the same profit operating a SportCruiser as it does with a new Cessna or Piper, while charging a $25- to $50-per-hour lower rental rate and with a 50% to 75% lower capital investment. Participation in the program is free to flight schools purchasing SportCruiser aircraft.

Sport Aircraft Works is the American importer and distributor for the Czech Aircraft Works line of S-LSA aircraft, which includes the SportCruiser, Parrott, Mermaid and Aerospool Dynamic. With a brand-new 120,000-square-foot facility, Czech Aircraft Works expects to increase production capacity to more than 500 aircraft per year for worldwide distribution. Avidyne Retrofit
Avidyne introduced the Envision integrated flight deck for retrofit installation in Cessna 210 and T210. Avidyne and Crownair Aviation, based in San Diego, Calif., are jointly developing the STC. Jamie Luster, Avidyne's Director of Aftermarket Sales, said, "Cessna 210 owners will get the latest in safety and situational-awareness capabilities and a beautiful new panel for a fraction of the cost of buying a new airplane." PlaneSmart Gets Turbos
PlaneSmart in Dallas, Texas, finalized a deal with Cirrus to replace its current fleet of Cirrus SR22-G2 aircraft with turbo Cirrus SR22-G3 aircraft. "In addition to the enhanced capabilities associated with the turbocharged aircraft," said PlaneSmart President Jeffrey Cullen, "the new airplanes offer the perfect combination of performance, navigation and safety features that satisfy PlaneSmart's objective of offering the best fractional aircraft ownership experience available to our customers." New WSI Weather Datalink Series
WSI Corporation has announced the availability of the WSI InFlight AV-300 series datalink weather systems. The AV-300 receiver delivers aviation weather content, while the AV-350 receiver is a new addition to the WSI InFlight product line, enabling aircraft operators and owners to receive both aviation weather content and radio entertainment. In partnership with ITT Corporation and several other companies, WSI was awarded a $207 million contract by the FAA to develop the ADS-B system, an ATC surveillance network intended to increase safety and efficiency with air transportation. Phoenix East Gets New Sim
In preparation for the delivery of five new Diamond DA42 aircraft, Phoenix East Aviation of Daytona Beach, Fla., has taken delivery of its new flight-simulation equipment, a Frasca 242 FTD that features the Garmin G1000 integrated avionics package. The FTD also includes a 180-degree visual display system that provides the student with real-time scenes of the environment, weather, airport layouts and approach-light systems. Cessna Expands
Cessna announced plans to invest up to $24 million to expand aircraft subassembly work in Columbus, Ga. This will include the construction of a 100,000-square-foot building, to be completed by August 2008. Cessna Columbus employees manufacture detail parts and assemblies for Cessna's line of single-engine pistons, Caravans and business jets. Cessna expects to add up to 150 jobs in Columbus over the next five years. "Our company has enjoyed dramatic growth over the last few years, and as a result, we must continue to expand on many fronts, especially manufacturing, to meet the growing demands of our customers," said Ron Alberti, Senior Vice President of Cessna's Integrated Supply Chain.
