Amazing Photos: Oshkosh Off To Rip Roaring Start

Master photographer Jim Koepnick captures the magic of the world’s biggest and coolest air show.

The 2017 edition of Oshkosh AirVenture is off to a great start, and we've got the numbers to prove it. EAA president Jack Pelton said that general aviation camping!and the rest of the airplane camping areas at OSH, had filled to the brim by early Sunday, the earliest he'd ever seen those areas fill up. The quality and the quantities of airplanes was remarkable as well, with an estimated 8,000 planes being on the show grounds in Oshkosh by noon on Monday, the event's first day. Late Monday there were some loud and beautiful warbirds fly by including a B-1 Bomber and a pair of F35 Lightnings. There was also a slightly older warbird attracting thousands of spectators to the ramp: Doc, one of two flying B-29 Superfortress in the world. Here's a look at some of the remarkable sights of AirVenture 2017 through the lens of legendary photographer Jim Koepnick. Enjoy!
